Casual Theme Park Looks

Everyone knows that summer days call for casual attire. If the word summer itself doesn't scream shorts and a t-shirt then you need to get your seasons in check. I personally have always admired winter weather because of the fact that winter wear looks better visually and is more elegant. You'd assume a Miami native would prefer casual summer attire above anything but that isn't the case.

Last month, I was able to take a week off my internship for a family getaway to Orlando. I love my family and I do love going to the theme parks. If you've ever experienced theme parks in the summer you can agree that it's probably one of the worst times to go. All my fellow Floridian peeps definitely know that waiting in lines and walking all day under the scorching summer sun isn't the biz. Imagine wearing pants, sweaters, and coats....yeah...NO. This is why shorts and t-shirts are definitely the way to go.

Magic Kingdom is Disney World's largest park. I decided to keep as cool as possible with a white shirt that matched my shorts. Of course, I wore my Nike sneakers to ensure comfort for walking all day long. Shout out to my best friend Melissa for gifting me the shirt I was wearing for XMAS!

Pictured above is a cool goosebumps shirt I found when thrift shopping. I remember I found it and was ecstatic because goosebumps was one of my favorite shows when I was younger. Paired it with some simple beige shorts and a pair of black Ray Ban aviators.

At Universal Studios I was feeling a bit spacey... LOL see what I did there? I found a cool apartment stoop that reminded me of New York. I'm wearing a galaxy shirt from Urban Outfitters and some greyish almost marble look alike shorts with some simple snake pattern slip ons from ASOS.

Even though I was on the brink of melting, I still managed to pull some cool outfits for the hot days at the theme parks. I hope you noticed that it's possible to look trendy while staying comfortable, casual, and cool during a hot summer day.

Fire(escape) Shades

At the beginning of summer I took a trip to LA. Some of you might remember from my pictures via Instagram and Snapchat (sebascintron). It was a lot of fun but one of the best parts of the trip was the apartment we stayed in. It was such a great location and my favorite thing about it was that it had a fire escape. It was giving me NYC vibes in LA but with better weather of course!

You guys know me and know that I like to pounce at every photo opportunity. Once I discovered the fire escape I immediately got a picture aesthetic vision in my head and at that moment I knew we had shoot it one of those days. I'm not even gonna lie to you guys, we took pictures here every single day. During sunset, at sunrise, and even before heading out for the day. I am ridiculous I know......(judge me). 

Either way, here are some shots from one of the days in which it literally looks like I shot a sunglasses campaign. The sun was set perfectly giving us a nice shimmering lighting aesthetic and of course the shades I was wearing were super cool. Safe to say I was definitely feeling myself!

Saturday Summer Fun

Hey guys so I know it's been a little while since I've last updated you on my life happenings. Recently, I've been trying to keep up with how fast this summer is going. It literally makes my head spin and I'm just here trying to take a moment to understand how we are already half past July. Anyway, as you know, I'm currently in Miami and I love being back here because this is my hometown and I enjoy catching up with family and friends.

Last weekend was my friend Melissa's birthday who I've known for 8798 years. We started the day with some breakfast at Green Street Cafe in Coconut Grove! Green Street is one of my go-to spots when in town. I was introduced to it by another one of my best friends & have been hooked ever since.  Everything on their menu is tasty but my favorite plate would have to be the nutella stuffed french toast. Not only is the food amazing, but it is also Instagram worthy.

Later on that day, we headed over to the Miami Beach for some "fun in the sun," as most would say. Miami has some of the best beaches with perfect warm blue water. We decided to park near the FontaineBleau Hotel so that we could enjoy the beach and have the hotels pool at our disposal. The FontaineBleau is one of the nicest hotels in Miami and I love coming to the pool here because of the nice atmosphere and fun vibes. The pool is huge and they play really loud music which makes the environment exciting and "poppin". Hope everyone is having a fantastic summer! 

Denim Venom

"Blue jeans, white shirt walked into the room you know you made my eyes burn..."

There's just something about a great pair of jeans especially ripped ones. It's a great feeling, and besides I was feeling true to the song with the blue jeans, white shirt, and the jean long sleeve shirt.

Peep one of my favorite t-shirts, a Givenchy t-shirt with a picture of Candice Swanepowel on top of someones shoulders. It's a simple shirt yet works for a variety of occasions like a night out or a chill relaxed day as pictured here. On a night out I've worn it with some black jeans, leather jacket, and chelsea boots.

I feel like im channeling Ina Garten from Barefoot Contessa on the Food Network with this long sleeve. The jean shirt is really nice and comfortable and I had actually been wanting one for a long time. One day I was thrift shopping with my grandma and I saw it for literally only $7. Of course, I bought it and as you can see it looks great with jeans but works well with swim shorts and a pair of boat shoes. I usually sport this combination at the beach sometimes or when I am out on the boat with friends. 

Ice cream spotlight: 10below

This spotlight is on the not so hidden Chinatown gem, 10Below ice cream. When I first came across pictures of rolled up heaven on Instagram, it was evident that I needed to try it myself and I'm sure glad that I did.

Inspired by ice cream in Thailand, 10Below offers made-to-order ice cream that is fresh and provides a unique experience. The way it works is quite simple. They begin by simply pouring liquid cream over a freezing plate which eventually turns into ice cream only within a few minutes. Then each individual ice cream is rolled before your eyes and voila you have your ice cream in its purest form right off the plate. This is the part where you want to take your phone out and snapchat the moment so you can post it on your story.

There is only one size which costs $7 but for the price you can pick any flavor you want, add ingredients to be mixed in, and indulge in unlimited toppings. I really like this idea because it makes ordering easier and quick. After all, 10Below attracts crowds that can cause a 15-25 minute wait depending on the day and time. Either way it's a really cool concept and it was fun seeing ice cream be prepared in front of me. If you are looking for something cool and different, have friends visiting from out of town, or just want an opportunity for a trendy Instagram picture, this is definitely the place to come to.

Breakfast spotlight: The Butcher's Daughter

The name itself might bring meat to mind, but the only butchering being done is of fruits and vegetables! The Butcher's dauguter is vegetarian and non-dairy and offers some vegan and gluten free options on their menu as well. Whoever this "daughter" is or isnt, sounds like your stereotypical nature and animal lover.

As you can see, the restaurant is completely adorned with plants and it almost feels like you are eating in a greenhouse. Such a relaxing ambiance sitting by the window which provided great lighting for this great photo I took of my plate. I decided to go with the multi-grain french toast which came with some berries and strawberry almond butter.

Pictured above, is their "orange juice." I placed it in quotations because it is not actually orange juice like I thought it'd be when I ordered it. I envisioned some freshly squeezed oranges but instead received a $9 pressed health drink which contained carrots and other veggies. This is what they refer to as orange juice, so if you head over to The Butcher's Daughter beware and make sure you know what you are ordering to drink. I had a great experience but just be prepared so that you do not make the same mistake I did.

Meet the SUSHIRITTO

Yup you read right. SUSHIRITTO! Meaning sushi + burrito put together basically a giant Sushi roll the size of a burrito. Before you start to wonder how in the world such thing could exist, the answer is quite simple. Uma Temakeria, the glorious location where you can get yourself this heavenly creation. If you are like me and love sushi but also cherish burritos and you are always stuck between the two, there is finally a solution! No more having to debate whether you should get Japanese or go for Mexican because you can have both.

I had been salivating over the idea for quite some time ever since a friend told me about it. Looking through pictures on Instagram was painful until finally, this past weekend my friends and I went over to try it. The concept was simple and similar to Chipotle except you were creating a sushi roll. You choose a type of rice (white or brown), protein (variety of raw fish), vegetables, toppings, and sauces. I went with the white rice, salmon, tuna, carrots, cucumbers, red peppers, spicy mayo, and eel sauces all for about $11. Trust me its worth it. However, just like chipotle, "avocado is extra," and being the bargain savvy college student that I am I decided to opt out.

Either way, I had a phenomenal experience. I truly enjoyed every single bite and of course, the Instagram-worthy opportunity. If you happen to be in New York, check it out at 7th ave & 14th st.

Gloomy Brooklyn Vibes

I still remember that day we met in December...

My good friend Ashley and I explored the Brooklyn Bridge park area back in December and I can't believe I've taken this long to post these pictures. It's really gloomy and foggy today in New York and it reminded me of that gloomy day back in Brooklyn. These pictures are from the beginning of December when it was starting to get cold but not all the way so I was able to just wear a sweater. When walking around we discovered a cool restaurant that sits by the edge of the water and has magnificent views of the Brooklyn Bridge andManhattan skyline.

The entrance of the restaurant is nicely adorned with twinkling lights in its shrubbery and trees. Instantly sparked with a vision we began to just shoot in front of the entrance. I feel like I constantly get visions and ideas of potential blog posts or picture shooting vibes everywhere I go. It's something just that comes to me and pops instantly when I see something I like and can spot potential in. Anyways, I really like how the pictures came out, my friend Ashley is really talented. The background is a bit blurry giving the twinkling lights a bokeh effect and it just looks really dope.

NYFW F/W 2016 MENS Nutshell + Video Vlog

New York Fashion Week: MENS

The first week of February started off with Mens week for its second ever participation in New York Fashion Week. I think it's fantastic that Men can now feel represented during NYFW after so many years of having just women shows. 

Dockers Party

The week was kicked off by a Docker's party in celebration of their 30th Anniversary. Crazy to think that Docker's has been around for that long now. The party definitely gave off some throwback vibes especially with the candies and snacks from the 80's that were being passed around going perfectly with the 80's themed festivities.

Of course I am wearing some classic dockers khakis to go with the occasion & I am layering up to beat the winter weather. 

A few of the guests in attendence included: Tyson Beckford, America's Next Top Model's Nyle Dimarco, Colton Haynes, Eric Decker, and Victor Cruz among several others. 

Rochambeau

Rochambeau by Laurence Chandler and Joshua Cooper, was my first show of the season. I have to say I was impressed with the collection and with the whole environment from the moment I walked into the room. The ambiance gave off 90's hiphop house party vibes and I was completely digging it. The lighting, DJ battle, and fog machine were definitely doing the trick.

The collection itself portrayed it too, with the oversized hoodies, track pants, and other sportswear. Although it is very clean and minimal, I like the layering and the fact that there are some cool bold color pops here and there among the browns and beiges.

Is orange the new black? Many designers have jumped on the trend implementing a dash of orange in their collection and Rochambeau did not get left out as we can notice the pop of color with a few of their pieces as well.

Whether it was the all white Nike Air Force 1's, or the Juice movie reminiscence street style and music, the Rochambeau show was truly entertaining and it made me feel like I was transported back to the 90's. 

These are a few highlights from mens week during New York Fashion Week. It is always such a great time and experience. Stay tuned for more updates throughout the season for more on New York Fashion Week especially when the women's shows start happening. It been really cold lately so I am layering up with a Ralph Lauren turtleneck zipped sweater, Calvin Klein blazer, and a wool double breasted over coat from Gap. 

 

NYFW F/W 2016 WOMENS Nutshell + Vlog

Goodbye mens week, hello women's! Fashion week is always great, attending different events and parties and meeting different interesting people, each year it just gets better and better. Here I assembled all of the shenanigans during the women's week portion of NYFW.  If you read my previous post, you can check out some of what went down during the mens portion but now it is time for the women's wrap up. 

My week began with the John Paul Ataker runway show at Pier 59 studios. The entire collection comprised of evening formal red carpet type gowns.

Opening Ceremony

Followed by Opening Ceremony which was absolutely out of this world! We were taken on an intergalactic journey with the collection and atmosphere of the show. Every detail from the large inflatable flying saucers hanging above, to the lighting, and futuristic music made us feel like we were in another planet. The clothing was very minimal with an edgy sophisticated futuristic touch. Although not pictured, Opening Ceremony utilized the color orange in many of their pieces to make a statement similar to several other designers of the week. I guess Orange really is the new black this season!

I was definitely feeling myself that night, trying to be a bit futuristic with my outfit pairing a long white tee under a hoodie and overcoat. I had a blast taking pictures on the inflatables as you can tell from above. Overall, the show just reminded me of the movie Zenon from Disney Channel about the girl that lived in space. ZEETUS LEPETUS!

After the show, it's party time! I didn't attend the Opening Ceremony after party because I was invited to the Jonathan Simkhai one and after having attended his in September, I really did not want to miss out on this one. He throws great parties & I knew more people that were going to his anyway.

The party was a blast! It was held at the notorious Up/Down club and was sponsored by Maybelline. There was a photo booth and since it was Valentine's Day they had cool v-day themed props. The music was great and at one point throughout the night, Charlie XCX showed up and took over the DJ booth to sing a few of her hits. I made my BFA debut as you can see above with Charlie XCX and Jonathan Simkhai.

If you know me, you know I love taking pictures so naturally my friends and I had to raid the photo booth! I love it when parties have photo booths because it is always a blast and it gives you a memory to take home and look back on.

I did it! I survived my second season of NYFW! I couldn't go to every show that I managed to get invited to because school was a factor and I could not miss class. Regardless, I cannot complain I had so much fun attending the events I did and catching up with friends and making some new ones. That's a wrap guys! Till next time or should I say next season?!

Spring Break Trip: LOS ANGELES

As you can tell by the title, this article is going to be about my spring break trip to Los Angeles, California! This wasn't any regular spring break trip, however, it was a plunge program with my school's campus ministry. When I first found out about the plunge program and the trips that they held I was very eager to participate and signed up immediately. It's wonderful that my school has this program for students to immerse themselves in Vincentian service and participate in a great cause.

During the trip we stayed in the Skid Row area of Downtown LA at the Cardinal Manning Center. CMC is a homeless shelter that offers a program for men to transition from living in the streets to finding their home.

We spent the week volunteering at multiple places such as: Maryvale, Hotel Dieu, The Hippie Kitchen, Meals on Wheels, and Midnight Mission, as well as connecting with members of the fellow Vincentian family.

Maryvale was the first orphanage in Los Angeles established by the Daughters of Charity. The organization takes care of orphaned, abused or neglected children. At Maryvale we played and had lunch with a group kids from the orphanage. It was great spending the afternoon playing basketball and just making sure the kids had a fun time.

Hotel Dieu is pretty much a senior citizens home that also doubles up as the Meals on Wheels headquarters in Los Angeles. Meals on Wheels is a nationwide organization that focuses on providing meals to those unable to make their own food or go and get it. What is great about Meals on Wheels is that no senior citizen has to worry about not being able to pay for their own meals because the fee ranges from free to no charge depending on what each person can contribute. At Hotel Dieu we played bingo with the senior citizen residents and helped out in the kitchen to prepare the meals for delivery. After the meals were ready, we were each split into route groups and sent off with a driver to go around Los Angeles delivering meals. 

The two days I participated in Meals on Wheels I probably knocked on 40-50 doors in the West Hollywood Area and about 35 close to the Downtown LA area as well. It was nice to see how appreciate the clients were when we knocked on their door to deliver the food. Some people were really happy to see us because for many the volunteers at Meals on Wheels are the only people they see throughout their day. This portion of our service trip kept reminding me of my grandma. Although, she is very healthy and productive it made me think that all those people have kids and grand kids as well and if they were my grandparents I'd want them to be properly taken care of just the way l'd want my grandma to be.

Another one of our days of service consisted in waking up at 5am to participate in The Midnight Mission of Los Angeles. Their mission is to help those that have lost everything regain their former life again. At the mission we worked during breakfast and we each had a spot behind the counter of the food line to serve the homeless that would be coming in to eat that morning. I was in charge of serving the pancakes and the syrup!

A really fun volunteer experience was working at the Catholic Worker's Hippie Kitchen in Skid Row! The Hippie Kitchen also known as Hospitality Kitchen is pretty much a soup kitchen were people volunteer their time to prepare home cooked meals for the homeless. What is great about the Hippie Kitchen is that it is free and it is opened to anyone who simply wants to get in the line. As a volunteer, I did a variety of tasks such as picking oranges, cutting vegetables, to stirring the extremely large pots they had. The vibes at the Hippie Kitchen were incredible! Everyone was so warm and friendly and they were so happy to have us be there volunteering. The kitchen is full of murals with great messages and they even have a beautiful garden outside in the back with bird cages and where those seeking a meal can sit down and enjoy their time there.

Furthermore, one thing I should mention is that we visited Homeboy Industries during our time there and took a tour of the facility. Homeboy industries is an organization that helps decrease gang activity and recidivism by providing support, tattoo removal, job training, as well as job placement to ex-gang members. It's wonderful to me that everyone there has been a gang member before and they are their because they want to change and better themselves. It's great that they use their enterprise to benefit and provide a mean of improvement to those who seek it. Definitely recommend checking out their Homegirl Cafe, and Homeboy Diner if anyone is ever in the Los Angeles area. The food is great, and it supports an incredible cause.

Overall, my spring break experience was amazing. It was my first time spending my spring break volunteering and I am completely glad that I did. It felt so great knowing that I was contributing my free time in a productive manner doing service to help the Los Angeles community. Not only that, but it also happened to be my birthday during the week. Los Angeles, to much surprise has a homeless population of around 44,000 people. It is insane to think that so many people are just living in the streets without a shelter. The trip was a very eye opening and humbling experience. I am also glad I had the opportunity to have gone with an amazing group of people who I had the opportunity to get to know throughout the week. Everyone on the trip showed true compassion and love of god with the people we helped and they each taught me something individually.

P.S shout out to my plunge group for surprising me the day of my birthday with a cake!

Status Himmel X Jordan Himmel

Hey Jordan, so tell me a little bit about yourself & how you got into fashion.

I was born in Cleveland, Ohio and moved to NYC 2 years ago for school. I feel I have a very progressive mindset that gets bored easily, so I needed to find a place that could keep up with my brain. I have always had a sense of style, but my reason for entering the fashion world was to simply create, and to progress. Fashion, especially men's, needs a fresh take, and I believe this clothing line presents that.
 
Explain Status Himmel and the reason behind that title.

I understand people may think off the bat that "status" refers to a social standing I am trying to create or offer. But I chose status because of my last name, Himmel, which in German means heaven. Heaven is personal to every individual, and it's the best of the best that they could hope for. Not what somebody else wants for them. Status Himmel attempts to not take away from the individual, but instead connect with them, and compliment their persona, attitude, and vibes.

 Where did the inspiration for Status Himmel come from?

My inspiration came from attempting to find the perfect shirt that would make picking out your outfit effortless. You have 2 options black or natural, and then 2 options after that, either with a pocket or without. The bottom pieces, which we call "symbols" don't take thought in choosing because wherever you're going, whatever day or night you're trying to have, will tell you which symbol to choose.

What do you define your style as and what influences your design/fashion aesthetic?

I would have to say my style is high fashion with a ton of personality. From the ripped denim to natural cork, I think people can see the elegance in the design, as well as become confused as to how that material got on the bottom of a t-shirt. So I like to think I'm creating a new style, "fresh"

What was the process of creating your own clothing like?

Along the way, the only thing I told every company I purchased materials or labor from was that I wanted the best of the best. I wanted to use the best fabric and best zippers possible. So I ended up with a soy fabric that is beneficial to human skin because of the plant protein, and riri zippers custom made in Switzerland. I wanted to create one perfect T-shirt that you didn't need to debate ever putting on. I also created the "kangaroo T" to fill a missing gap in clothing which is functionality. The kangaroo T features a hidden pocket on the chest that's perfect for holding your phone, wallet, or anything else that needs to be easily accessed.

I can't say I have a favorite. I'm very picky.

Where do you see yourself after college?

Hopefully still working on Status Himmel and building the vision. I want to keep it about the clothes themselves, and not worry about the money it generates. I have many passion projects I'm hoping I get to work on when I get some free time, one being opening a croissant restaurant.

Someone who owns a big private jet. The amount of places I would visit in one day would break records.

Restaurant Review: GOTHAM BAR & GRILL NYC

New York City Restaurant Week is probably one of the best weeks in the city. It happens twice a year and over 350 restaurants participate. For a fixed price of $25 for lunch and $38 for dinner, you can indulge in a three-course delicious meal. Being bargain savvy college students, my friends and I decided to take advantage of this offer and go to Gotham Bar and Grill.

Gotham has consistently placed high in the Zagat Restaurant Guide & has maintained its Michelin Star rating for multiple years. Although the ambiance is not upbeat and trendy like restaurants such as Buddakan or Tao, it is calm and perfect for a professional business lunch or elegant evening dinner.

Since it was restaurant week, we ordered from their special prefixed menu. It was great because they offered a variety of options for each course. For the appetizer, I decided to go with a basic mixed greens salad because I wasn't really feeling the smoked salmon dish or the pumpkin creme. My salad was super good and it had a delectable vinaigrette dressing with some tossed nuts and cranberries up in the there. I did try some of the pumpkin creme and salmon from my friends and it was extremely good as well. The salmon tasted really fresh and it was served with a delicious aioli sauce as well as some greens and the pumpkin soup was perfection. 

For the main entree, I ordered a roasted chicken breast which came on top of a bundle of savory vegetables in a sweet barbeque-like sauce. The chicken was so tender and it was probably one of the best chicken breasts I've ever had. It was as if the chicken was bred on an organic diet in some hidden mystical fantasy land.

At last, the desert came and we were all blown away! The desert options were: flavored sorbet, flourless chocolate cake, and a pear parfait. We each choose something different so that we could try from each others plates. I selected the raspberry sorbet and words cannot describe how good that was. It was as if the raspberries were hand picked from Narnia or something! The rich fruity taste reminded me of the times I had sorbet in Italy. IT WAS THAT GOOD. I am not a big cake fan but I decided to try my friends chocolate cake anyway. Thank god I did because it was the most exquisite chocolate cake I have tried. I don't know if it was the flourless aspect of it, but even though the cake seemed like a solid piece its texture was that of a soft mousee. It literally melted inside my mouth and I was completely okay with that. It was served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream which really went well with the cake. Last but not least, my friend's parfait was probably the best decorate plate and very tasty as well.

City Evenings: The Met / The plaza Hotel

Hello Upper East Siders, it's me Sebastian giving you the inside scoop on what went down on a chilly Saturday evening in the Upper East Side of Manhattan. A couple of young creative individuals climbing the infamous Met steps looking to explore the museum at nighttime. Myself included perused around the intricacy of the museum stopping at the exhibits we found most interesting. At one point, we each made coin wishes at the Egyptian exhibit's reflection pool reminiscing Hilary Duff's trevi fountain scene from her movie in Rome. Everyone needs their Lizzie Mcguire movie moment right?

My partners in crime for the evening and I continued gallivanting through the museum occasionally pausing to admire pieces but mostly to take pictures like the ones below.

Here is my friend Reza who is also a blogger (http://funkykissestakesny.com) channeling her inner Blair Waldorf. It's actually funny how much she resembles her appearance wise. So much that we kept calling her Blair Waldorf throughout the night just because. After the museum, we carried over to one of Manhattan Classics, The Plaza Hotel. Pictured above is the entrance/lobby area with a large chandelier that looks super fun to swing from haha! The attention to detail this hotel has is incredible. Although the hotel has been around for a really long time, it still manages to captivate anyone that walks passed its golden revolving doors. From the elegance and poise of the display and chandelier to the gold accents on the walls and ceilings, it all gives you a sense of vintage antique nostalgia. 

*Fun Fact* The Movies Home Alone and Bride Wars were both filmed in this exact hotel!

Ah, the iconic Palm Court! Located in the center of the hotel just passed the main entrance with the chandeliers. The picture above basically sums up why the restaurant/lounge's name is the Palm Court.  The trees and stained glass ceiling give you the impression that you are in a tropical garden and I am all here for it. It's the perfect ambiance for a professional business meeting, a night out for cocktails, and perhaps afternoon tea. Scone anyone?

Just leaving this picture of me here as I have my Suite Life of Zack & Cody moment! Shout out to all the millennials who will understand my Disney Channel references.

MY FIRST BLIZZARD EVER

To be honest, I've actually had multiple blizzards before...the Oreo ones from Dairy Queen that is. The delicious ice cream so cold that the worker behind the counter flips it upside down before they hand it to you just so you can see how cold it is. Although I love Dairy Queen's blizzards, those aren't the ones I'm referring to.

Moving to New York, I knew that I wasn't going to be able to avoid the harsh winters and *ahem* snow. Growing up in a tropical climate like Miami, winter was a foreign topic for us. When news broke out that a blizzard was coming to the North East I was pretty excited. Most of my friends who are blizzard veterans kept telling me not to be because it wasn't all that and that I would hate it soon enough.

The day came and regardless, I was excited that there was actual snow falling from the sky. It was an entirely new concept to me and I decided to go outside and play with it. After taking countless pictures and, of course, snapchats (sebascintron) for my family and friends back home I went back to my dorm room and hibernated the rest of the day. The snow was fun for like 5 minutes and then it was annoying because it kept hitting my face and melting instantly. Not just that, but trekking through the snow was extremely difficult especially since I was unprepared and did not wear snow boots. 

One of the perks of having a blizzard and over 3ft of snow was the fact school was getting cancelled for the day. To take advantage of the situation I decided to head over to Central Park and make the most of the snow day. Let me just say that the blizzard turned Central Park into a literal winter wonderland! Everything was so white and so clean it was incredible seeing everything completely covered with snow. It was a nice moment of realization for me soaking in the fact that I live in New York now and I'm able to experience the beauty of a snowy Central Park! Walking around just admiring the picturesque scenery was great.

CHRISTMAS IN NEW YORK!

Even though the holidays are over and I am a tad late on the Christmas blog post. I am writing one anyways because mentally I am still in holiday season mode.

Christmas time itself is just such a wonderful time. There is such a great spirit that fills the air and everyone seems to be in such a great and giving mood and it's honestly amazing. Now, Christmas time in New York City on the other hand, is a whole other spectrum on its own! There is just something magical about Christmas in New York! Growing up in Miami, the Christmas spirit did not feel as present and it was almost like people did not take it as serious either. Perhaps it was the 90 degree weather in December that just didn't make the vibes Christmas-y enough? It feels like summer year round in Miami. Moving to New York and getting to experience actual seasons and a cold December made Christmas time for me extra special.

Not only that, but the entire city seems to be in Christmas mode. From the weather, to the store front window displays, to the street decorations and so much more it's like New York doesn't let you forget that it's Christmas time. The picture above is from the inside of Macy's which felt like an absolute Christmas dream.

Similarly to Macy's, stores like Bloomingdale's, Saks Fifth Avenue, and countless others throughout the city had an array of incredible Christmas window displays. Walking around and seeing the Christmas vibes everywhere definitely made you feel happy and excited for the holiday season. Of course we cannot forget the Rockefeller Christmas tree and ice skating rink which are a New York City Christmas staple! Every year thousands of people gather each day to see the Rockefeller Christmas tree which definitely is a sight to see. You can also rent a pair of skates and skate under neath the famous tree!

Although Christmas is celebrated everywhere, there is just something special about Christmas time in New York City!

Christmas time in New York City is literally a dream! From the rockefeller tree, ice skating in central park, to decorations in store fronts, the holidays in new york are definitely special. Its exactly the same as it is in the movies.

DIY MARBLE LAPTOP CASE!

Recently, I've been obsessing over all things marble! I've been obsessed with the whole black and white aesthetic for a while now but black and white marble has taken a toll in my life. Black and white are really elegant colors and they go with anything. Even my closet has seemed to be affected by this because everything looks black and white. Now marble itself is such a cool design and I decided to see if I could get a case for my laptop! After doing some research online most of the marble laptop cases were super expensive and over $80. I was not trying to spend that much money on a laptop case. So I decided to make a DIY (do it yourself) video and make the case myself.

FALL

There is nothing like the FALL! The weather begins to get cooler, the leaves start to change color, and the stereotypical white girls pull out their Uggs and order pumpkin spice lattes from Starbucks. Fall is something I have always wanted to experience but never had the chance to because of the lack of seasons where I am from. To some it might seem ideal but when you've lived in Miami your whole life its not that exciting. I've always watched movies or read about people playing with leaves and it seemed like fun and felt great to be living in New York to experience actual seasons!

My campus looks so nice especially right now with all the different color leaves.
